We all have moments…
A tiff with the spouse, a fight with kids, a bad day at work, an appointment forgotten, misplaced car keys, an iPhone dropped in the toilet, we all have moments. Some are worse than others. Most pass uneventfully.
When the life’s train comes off its tracks, I try and go to a happy place and conjure up a poem that puts my mind to rest. One of my favorites is Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If” which starts out like this:
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise
The ending is as relevant as the beginning, so I encourage you to read it.
Better yet I encourage you to take life as it comes, the good and the bad, and remember that tomorrow the sun will shine again.
And life is as good as you make it. And it is always a bit better in the City chair by Stressless.
